Description
As always something slightly different for you from the craftsmen at Geronimo Jones. A genuine Indian Penny necklace is set in Sterling silver on a 20 inch Sterling chain.
This is an iconic coin in the American psyche.
The bronze coin has an Indian head with the word ‘Liberty” on the band of the feathered headress and the words ‘United States of America’ on the face; and a wreath of oak and olive tied at the base with a ribbon with a Federal shield above and the words ‘One Cent’ inverted on the reverse.
The Indian Head one-cent coin, also known as an Indian Penny, was produced by the United States Mint from 1859 to 1909 at the Philadelphia Mint and in 1908 and 1909 at the San Francisco Mint. It was designed by James Barton Longacre, the engraver at the Philadelphia Mint 1844–1869.
The necklace measures approximately 39mm deep (including hanging loop and 21mm wide. The pendant is suspended on a contemporary 20 inch box link Sterling Silver necklace with a strong Sterling clasp. Marked .925 this striking necklace comes with its own beautiful Geronimo Jones jewellery bag and in a presentation box. Please note that as each coin is unique in patina, wear and character the images are representative of the actual item. Dates of coins vary. Handmade in England.
